Police-based victim service programs provide assistance to victims of all types of crime and trauma.
There are currently over 90 police based victim service programs located in RCMP and municipal police departments throughout B.C. In these programs, staff and trained volunteers provide emotional support, information, practical assistance, referrals and court support to victims of crime. Community-based victim service programs are located in community agencies and provide support to victims of family and sexual violence.
In some communities, there are specific programs for women, children, youth, male survivors of sexual abuse, Aboriginal peoples and ethno-specific communities.
